Screenings

Speech and language screenings are offered on site for children three- to six-years old by a licensed speech-language pathologist. Screenings are an affordable way to observe a child’s:
  • language understanding (receptive language)
  • language use (expressive language)
  • production of speech sounds (articulation and phonology)
  • vocal and nasal quality (pitch, hoarseness, loudness)
  • fluency (disfluencies/stuttering)
  • social-pragmatic language skills

A Speech-language pathologist can administer a screening in approximately 20 minutes. The screening results will yield a “pass” or “did not pass” if any areas of concern were noted. If a child did not pass the screening, a comprehensive speech-language evaluation is typically recommended by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
